Driver/Warehouse Person

We are currently recruiting a Driver/Warehouse Operative

The role includes:

  • driving one of our vans making deliveries
  • working in the warehouse
  • keeping your yard clean, tidy and well organised
  • supporting your team mates

 The role involves

  • loading our lorries 
  • driving our Forklift Truck
  • unloading our suppliers delivery vehicles
  • serving customers
  • working in the warehouse

  • looking after the stock in the yard area

You need to:

A Forklift Truck licence is desirable. Training will be given

 Business:  Buildbase Job Title:   Yard/Warehouse Person Reporting to:  Branch Manager 
Principle Objective: Responsible for the upkeep and organisation of the warehouse and to effectively work as part of a team in which you’ll make sure our customers can rely on a timely, friendly and dependable service. 
Key Responsibilities: To:  Receive and check off deliveries to the branch, highlighting any anomalies and ensuring secure, correct and timely storage of such deliveries in line with health and safety guidelines.  Ensuring that customers are served promptly and efficiently at all times.  Ensure that the warehouse is kept tidy at all times, that stock is clearly identifiable and low stock levels highlighted to branch management where necessary to make certain products are available at all times.  Assist with picking and loading of company vehicles on an as and when basis.  Actively safeguard against theft of goods or company property by being security conscious at all times.  Work and communicate as a team member to ensure the branch operates efficiently and effectively within company policy.  Perform any other duties as may be deemed necessary or as may be required by the company.

Measurements Of Success:  A clean and tidy environment that fully complies with health and safety requirements/regulations.  Easily identifiable stock locations.  Full awareness of stock levels at all times.  Smooth stock-take operation due to good housekeeping in the warehouse area.

The provision of a timely, friendly and dependable delivery service to our customers. Act as an ambassador of the Buildbase business, working as part of a team ensuring that our customers’ expectations are not just met, but exceeded.
Key Responsibilities: To:
 Provide an efficient, timely and dependable delivery service.  Undertake manual loading on and off vehicles.  Ensure that the vehicle is road worthy by carrying out appropriate checks on a routine basis.  Ensure that the vehicle, crane or forklift is driven and maintained in an appropriate and courteous manner and in line with legislation, health and safety guidelines and company policy.  Report any vehicle, crane or forklift defects immediately to line/branch manager.  Ensure that tachograph and other essential documents are completed in a timely and efficient manner.  Build effective working relationships with customers acting as an ambassador for the Buildbase business.  Responsible for ensuring all orders are correctly loaded onto the vehicle in line with health and safety procedures and proper documentation is completed prior to departure in order that goods can be tracked.  Ensure that delivery notes have correct signatures as per company policy.  Actively safeguard against theft of company goods or property by being security conscious at all times.  To perform any other duties as may be deemed necessary or as may be required by the company.

Measurements Of Success:
 Deliveries completed on a timely basis.  Routine checks and defect reports are maintained accurately  Tachographs are maintained accurately and efficiently.  Good route execution thus reducing mileage and fuel costs.  The appearance of self and vehicle are pristine at all times as the driver acts as an ambassador for the branch and the company.  Maintain a faultless driving record whilst performing company duties.

 Should be prepared to use initiative when delivering orders to ensure that the customer’s needs are met whilst not compromising health and safety regulations.  Should be willing to be flexible in duties undertaken e.g. warehouse duties, as and when required.  Must be prepared to fully support the Branch at the twice yearly stock-take.
Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills/Experience 
 A current Class 2 (Category C) LGV licence and experience is essential.  A current Driver Qualification Card (DQC) is essential.  A Lorry Loader (HIAB) licence and experience is essential.
